HURRICANE   PREP   PLAN--2007                    April 25, 2007

                                                                                                                                                                       

This Plan will only work by people pitching in.  So get a work detail together & share the tasks to be accomplished.

 

-Notify Residents of Hurricane Prep & Evacuation (Evac may be Mandatory)

        >Provide info on Evacuation routes

        >If evacuating, LEAVE EARLY to avoid traffic jams and bridge closures. 

        >Make up-country reservations as necessary.

        >FUEL your vehicles EARLY and get CASH (No gas or ATM’s w/no elec)

 

-Advise residents to stow everything that could be blown around (hoses, electric lines, chairs, 

          tables, scooters, bikes, plants, etc.)

 

-Ensure Storage Shed doors are secure

 

-Move “For Rent” & “For Sale” signs inside.

 

-Remove ALL signs from the South (Entry) fence areas; stow inside

 

-Tape: Owners may want to apply Painters tape (NOT duct tape) to shed windows and any units not moved for evacuation.

 

-Pool Area:

        >Pool Heater OFF (see Will Snell/Warren Gravois for Lock combo)

        >Furniture, buttcans, pool toys & planters into Clubhouse or Shed

        >Close umbrellas and tape them closed (Painters tape) (they cannot be removed from tables)

        >BBQ Grill into Women’s bathroom

        >Trash can into Men’s bathroom

        >Pool Skimmer, Life Ring & Rescue Collar: Store in Clubhouse

        >Planters into Clubhouse

        >Pool signs (3): Cut cable ties & stow signs in Clubhouse

        >Ensure doors to Bathrooms & Pass-Thru are shut TIGHT.

        >Bathroom windows Closed

    Hurricane Category 4 & higher:
        >Lower pool water level by about 18 inches, then:

        >Pull Circuit Breaker on pool circulation pump (must be done if water level is lowered)

        >Pool Lights Timer:  OFF

 

-Clubhouse:

        >Windows closed

        >Wheelbarrow into Storage Shed

        >Pick up loose items at rear of Clubhouse

     Hurricane Cat 4 and higher:

       >Unplug Washer & Dryer

       >Turn OFF Air Conditioner

       >Turn OFF all lights, fan

       >Unplug TV, stereo, VCR, etc.

 

 

 

-Fence:

       >Remove the four Wind Relief Sections on the North fence section. Secure them on our side of the fence, near the openings, with rope or bungee cords.

 

-Front Gate; Set Timer to MANUAL ; Open Gate (press Enter);  Set Power switch to OFF.

        >Tie down each gate side to the frame between main (large) posts. Do not tie to a palm tree, as the palm may be blown over.

  

-Rear Arm Gate: Turn OFF gate switch (white On/Off sw, under the fiberglass housing cover)

        >Remove Arm & store at rear of Clubhouse (store bolts/nuts in Clubhouse)

 

-Lawn Sprinkler system: OFF (key is in black notebook, laundry room shelf)

 

-Lamp Posts Timer: OFF

 

 

Supplies Needed: (These items to be stored in Clubhouse closet)

       >Painters masking tape; 2-4 rolls

       >Wire nips or knife (from your own tool kit)

       >Rope, to tie front gates to gate frame; and for fence sections

       >Bungee cords, to secure fence Wind Relief Sections

       >Plastic baggie for Rear Arm Gate nuts/bolts
